USAID Uganda Delegation Visits Young Engineers Uganda to foster Development Partnerships

November 7, 2024, Kampala, Uganda — A delegation from USAID Uganda yesterday paid a courtesy call on Young Engineers Uganda, a pioneering STEM program for children under age of 21 years, run by the African School of Innovations Science and Technology (ASIST) LTD.
November 7, 2024, Kampala, Uganda — A delegation from USAID Uganda yesterday paid a courtesy call on Young Engineers Uganda, a pioneering STEM program for children under age of 21 years, run by the African School of Innovations Science and Technology (ASIST) LTD.
The meeting took place at Young Engineers Uganda headquarters on Plot 44, Semawatta Road, in Ntinda – Kampala.
The head of the delegation, Mr. Munstansir Barma, Senior Partnerships Advisor, was accompanied by his colleague Ms Leah Ndikuwera.
The Young Engineers team was led by Ms Maureen Ayebare Karamagi, The Chief Executive Officer.
On her team was Ms Caroline Kapere Tusiimire, the Chief Operations Officer, Ms Allen Nanyonjo ,the Head of Curriculum and Mr Anatori Tucungwire , Head of Projects, Research and Development.
This visit comes ahead of the first-ever Uganda National STEM and Robotics Education Championship, set to take place on November 29 at The National ICT Innovation Hub, Nakawa.
The championship, supported by UNDP, the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), EATON Corporation (USA), The National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) UPDF and REC Foundation will see over 300 children showcasing their talents in different STEM and robotics projects.
The top five teams will represent Uganda at the VEX World Robotics Championship in the United States next year.
Young Engineers Uganda was established in 2016 under the African School of Innovations, Science and Technology Limited (ASIST) by journalist Arinaitwe Rugyendo.
The program aims to nurture the next generation of Ugandan scientists, innovators, problem solvers, and creative thinkers using a robotics and LEGO after-school curriculum.
Operating in over 25 schools across Uganda, ASIST under its flagship brand Young Engineers Uganda has gained recognition for its innovative approach to STEM Education.
The organization’s mission is to inspire innovation, collaboration, and create opportunities for young people under the age of 21 years.
