Who We Are

The African School of Innovations Science and Technology (ASIST)
is Uganda’s premier Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) educational organization.
Founded in 2015 by journalist Dr. Arinaitwe Rugyendo, ASIST is dedicated to nurturing the next generation
of scientists, innovators, problem solvers, entrepreneurs, and critical thinkers through its flagship
programme, Young Engineers Uganda.

Young Engineers Uganda is a globally recognized STEM education enhancement program with a presence in over 70 countries. Originating in Israel, it has positively impacted more than 30,000 children worldwide and received endorsements from prestigious institutions such as the Harvard School of Education, the European Commission of the EU, King Charles III, and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In Uganda, the programme has gained recognition by the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations, the Ministry ICT and National Guidance, the National Curriculum Development Centre, Hon Janet Museveni – First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, the United Nations Development Programme, the National Enterprises Corporation, Kaziire Health Products, and a number of media houses.

The programme has also expanded to over 35 schools, transforming the lives of more than 6,000 children. It equips young learners with practical STEM skills, fostering innovation and technological expertise to prepare them for the future workforce.

Additionally, Young Engineers Uganda is well-positioned to complement and support Uganda’s Competence-Based Curriculum for lower secondary education. Through its Problem-Based, Project-Based, and Product-Based learning models, it inspires creativity and critical thinking among students.
